David Dein Visits Year 10
In December, our Year 10 students were privileged to receive an inspirational talk from one of the most influential men in British football. David Dein is former Vice-Chairman of Arsenal FC and also of the Football Association.
He was instrumental in establishing the Premiership and in bringing Arsenal and, arguably, British football into the modern era with his appointment of Arsene Wenger as manager and the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires as players. He has also been hugely significant in the development of women’s football.
David is now a prominent public speaker and his speech to Year 10, which was full of facts, opinions and stories, had something for everyone.
"This was one of the best assemblies ever" said Shakti, in Year 10.
"I was impressed to see how much wom-en’s football has come along" said Farheen in Year 10.
David said of his visit "Everything worked very smoothly and the students were impeccably behaved. They seemed to be engaged throughout my talk, asked pertinent questions and laughed at my corny gags! A delightful group! I hope they took away some positive messages from my visit."
