Year 7 Catch-up Premium:2015-16

Year 7 Catch-up Premium Grant Report: 2015-16

The Department for Education has allocated £500 per pupil for the number of year 7 pupils who did not achieve at least a level 4 in reading and/or mathematics at Key Stage 2. This is based on Key Stage 2 data and the autumn school census.

• In 2015-16 the allocation of funds for this purpose to LangdonAcademy is £20,000 (40 students)

In 2015-16 these monies are being used to fund:

• A reading intervention programme: Renaissance Learning
• Small group intensive support on ‘reading for meaning’;
• 1:1 LSA support and intervention with literacy and numeracy throughout the curriculum;
• The purchase of texts and resources for small, specifically focused classes in English and Mathematics (extra time given across the curriculum); and,
• 1:1 reading mentors.

In 2014/15, the allocation was £12,500 (25 Students); the impact of the intervention was tracked through rigorous data collection throughout the year. In May 2015, there is evidence of the impact this funding is making on the progress of students. In English and mathematics students are making progress in line with or above that of similar students nationally.

In addition, the percentage of these students making greater than expected progress is above national averages in English and mathematics and is improving.
